ALL ABOUT RF RECEIVERS
The RF receiver is a device used to change IR signals to RF signal that can be interpreted by your electronic devices. Given the fact that most of our electronics are Infra-red signal equipment,, there is need to transform the IR signals into RF  signals. The RF receiver can be used to convert signals into a specific of signal depending on the electronic device on which it is used. The RF receiver has an antenna with which it receives the signals and converts them to either audio or video formats. A device called a tuner then separates the many signals it receives.
The RF receiver then decodes the information received by the antennae. There are many ways to decode information; there is Frequency modulation and Amplitude modulation. For you to be able to select an RF receiver, you need to have knowledge of the FM and AM modulation. The difference between he two kinds of decoding mentioned above(AM and FM) is that with FM, the frequency of a sine wave carrier will basically be departing from the center frequency by an amount that is equal to the modulating signal. The Amplitude Modulation is the effect caused when the amplitude of the sine wave carrier is varied by the baseband signal. Depending on the kind of modulation you desire, you will be able to make a choice as to the kind of RF receiver you desire.
There are many types of RF receivers, in the market, each with a varying capacity of changing IR signals to RF signals.  The W800USB RF receiver has the ability to receive X10 RF signals that have been generated from products that can produce signals of the same quality (RF). This can range from remotes controls to motion detectors. The receiver then sends these commands to the USB port of your computer and thus your computer will be able to receive the X10 RF commands directly from the device you desire. This device requires you to have a PC. It has an antenna which can be used to increase the range of reception.
The W800RF32A model is another X10RF kind of receiver for use with many X10 RF transmitters, like THE W800 USB model it has an external antenna for maximum range. SETTING UP an RF receiver is easy; you do not have to have meters and meters of wires running across your home. In fact you do not need extra wires for setting up your receiver. You do not need to have extra space in your home either.
